This policy explains how Alba International Repatriations, trading as Alba Repatriations (“we”, “us”, “our”), collects, uses and protects personal information when you use our website at albarepat.co.uk or contact us about our services. We understand that people often get in touch with us at a very difficult time, and we treat the information you share with care and respect.
Who we are
We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.

What information we collect
We collect only the information we need to answer your enquiry and carry out the service you ask for.
- Contact form: your name, contact number, email address, the service you are interested in (funeral, cremation or transportation) and any message you write.
- Transfer request form: the date of the transfer; the name, age and religion of the person who has died; whether a coffin is required; whether burial or cremation is planned; collection and delivery addresses, telephone numbers and opening times; your name and email address; and any notes you add.
- Calls and emails: the details you give us when you phone or email us, including your name and contact details.
- Technical information: basic information such as your IP address and browser type, which is recorded by our website hosting and security systems when you visit, and through cookies as described below.
Information about a person who has died is not personal data in law, but we handle it with the same care. Please only give us details about other living people, such as relatives or funeral directors, where you are able to do so.
How we use your information and why
- To respond to your enquiry and provide an estimate or quotation. This is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract.
- To carry out the repatriation, funeral, cremation or transport service you ask for, including arranging collection, delivery, documentation and payment. This is necessary to perform our contract with you.
- To comply with the law, for example when we must obtain or keep documents for local authorities, registrars or foreign consulates, or keep financial records.
- To run, secure and improve our website and business, and to prevent spam and misuse. This is in our legitimate interests.
Where you tell us about a person’s religion, we use it only so that the transfer and arrangements respect their wishes. We do not use your information for marketing, and we do not sell it.
Who we share your information with
We share information only where it is needed to carry out your request, and only the parts that are needed. Depending on the service, this may include:
- funeral directors, crematoria and cemeteries;
- local authorities, registrars, consulates, customs and other official bodies;
- airlines, shipping and transport providers;
- our associates in other countries who help us arrange repatriation, including in London, Holland, the Czech Republic, Poland, France and the USA;
- service providers who support our website and email, such as our website host, our email delivery provider and Google (which supplies the fonts used on this site).
These providers may only use your information to provide their service to us or to carry out the arrangements you have asked for.
Transfers outside the UK
Because we repatriate people to and from other countries, some information may need to be sent outside the United Kingdom, for example to a foreign consulate, funeral director or one of our associates. Where required, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place, or we send the information only where it is necessary to carry out the arrangements you have asked for.
Cookies and similar technologies
Our website uses a cookie notice so that you can see and respond to our use of cookies. Cookies are small files stored on your device. We use those needed to make the site work and to remember your cookie choice. At the time of writing we do not use advertising cookies. Our site loads fonts from Google, which means your IP address is sent to Google when a page loads. You can control or delete cookies in your browser settings, although parts of the site may then not work as expected.
How long we keep your information
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes above, including to meet legal, regulatory, accounting and reporting requirements. When we no longer need it, we delete it or anonymise it securely.
How we protect your information
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. Our website runs over a secure connection (HTTPS). No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so please take care about what you send by email.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
- ask us to delete your information in certain circumstances;
